Dressing for your week at home

Posted by Blogger Ax

Spending all day at home is not something we are used to. Cabin fever can easily creep in and our daily lives have changed dramatically.

Staying at home will keep you safe and we want you to make the most out of it. Do things you haven’t got around to doing yet or just enjoy a bit of ‘me’ time.

During your time at home, it’s important to maintain a sense of routine, especially for your mental health. Wake up and go to bed at healthy times, make sure your activities are varied, and stay connected to people.

To inject a bit of fun during lockdown, we’ve created a little weekly schedule you can try out.

Monday: Work, work, work

Beat that Monday morning feeling by planning ahead, having a good breakfast and dress to impress.

You'll feel ready for anything if you make an effort on a Monday morning – especially for your conference calls.

Just because you’re working from home, it doesn’t mean you have to let yourself go. Not only will it make you look professional and ready to work it also makes you feel better too.

Get organized the night before by choosing your outfit and washing your hair. When you wake up on Monday morning, you’ll have everything laid out for you, so you’ll be at your desk in no time!

Choose business up top but comfort on the bottom. A white shirt is a staple for every woman's wardrobe. Its simplicity makes it a foolproof option that you can wear with just about anything. A shirt with frills adds a different element to your look that can be dressed up or down. If you don’t feel comfortable, it could hinder your productivity so choose wisely when it comes to your bottom half. We’re thinking leggings, smart joggers, or some wide fitting trousers. Tuesday: Call the rents

Dedicate your Tuesday evenings to check in with your parents. Video call them to see how they're doing, what home improvements they’ve been making and what the dog has been up to.

Making an effort for these calls shows that you’re doing okay, you can look after yourself and they don’t need to worry.

Choose a nice blouse but nothing low cut and pair it with some jeans. Show your parents that you’ve got yourself together and you’re bossing this isolation malarkey!

Wednesday: Hump day drinks

Yey, you’ve made it to the middle of the week! Wednesday can sometimes be the toughest day of the week for you but once you’ve made it through Wednesday it’s a downwards slope from there. What better way to celebrate you’ve made it to the middle of the week than with a few hump day drinks? It’ll give you the chance to get out of your joggers and into something a little more normal, even if it is just for a few hours.

Choose your best jeans and a nice top outfit! Go for something colourful to brighten up your day and make your jeans feel wanted again.

Treat yourself to a few homemade cocktails, dance around your living room, or make that TikTok you’ve been practicing.

Thursday: Pub quiz night

Going to the pub actually has some health benefits, well not the actual drinking but definitely the social part. Staying at home all week can be a little lonely, and it can be hard to distinguish between work and relaxation.

Set some time aside to call your friends and create your own virtual pub. Whilst you’re catching up with your mates, why not set up a pub quiz to challenge your friends.

Don’t forget to find your perfect outfit for the pub – you’ll be on camera after all! We’re thinking smart but casual. Maybe a bodysuit, a comfy long cardigan, and some faux leather leggings.

Friday: Date night in

Whether you are living with your partner, or have to video call them to stay in touch, a date night is essential to keep the romance alive. If you’re single, why not set up a virtual date, light some candles, and talk to your new potential romance online.

If you’ve spent all week in your baggy clothes, now’s the time to get dressed up. It will make you feel a whole lot better. Find your favourite little black dress and put on your sexy heels. Take some time to put your makeup on and do something different to your hair.

Saturday: At home bunching

Remember the days where you could go out and enjoy bottomless brunches across the UK? Well, its time to bring bottomless brunches to your home!

Pour yourself a glass of fizz and get your best friend involved. Eat brunch with them whilst chatting about how your weeks been.

Pull out your silky midi skirt and match with a long sleeve black top. Put on your favourite lippy and get sipping!

Sunday: Netflixing

Sundays are made for chilling! A chance to sit back and relax in your living room. Use Sunday as your ‘me’ time. Time out from all the doom and gloom in the news and time out from chores and work.

Stay in and cosy up with some classic sofa styles. Throw on your comfy oversized jumper and find your comfiest leggings. Get everything set up so you don’t have to move all day. Switch your TB on and find the perfect Netflix series to binge to all day. You’re ‘guilty pleasure’ series can actually be good for the soul. So, make yourself the perfect cup of tea and get those snacks ready.

Have you been getting creative whilst stuck indoors? We want to hear from you! Share your themed nights and let’s get connecting. Let’s see if we can help each other out by providing inspiration to one another through these difficult times.
